LPIC = Linux Professional Institute Certifications. Certificazione dell’Istituto Professionale Linux è una qualifica data dall’organizzazione senza fini di lucro (Linux Professional Institute) che in Italia, che io sappia, non ha nessuna valenza riconosciuta dalle autorità , e risulta misconosciuta da moltissime persone, al contrario della famosa ECDL (la patente del computer bella roba …!).
Quindi perché studiare qualcosa e spendere dei soldini per effettuare l’esame (di seguito vi dico come/dove), per poi non avere nessun riconoscimento “ufficiale”? Semplice, perché superare un esame comprova la nostra preparazione su qualcosa che abbiano deciso di imparare, vuoi per passione, vuoi per lavoro, vuoi perché chi vi da il lavoro esige una preparazione seria e non farlocca.
Iniziamo con il sito ufficiale dove leggiamo che le possibilità di certificazione sono 3 (almeno si legge cosi’, anche se sinceramente gli esami che ho visto sinora sono fino al 2° livello):
- lpic1-junior admin.
- lpic2-advanced admin.
- lpic3-senior admin.
Il materiale per studiare
il materiale che potete trovare è molteplice, basta seguire il sito ufficiale. Io pero’ vi rimando direttamente a questa documentazione liberamente distribuito e distribuibile da Leading Edge Co., Ltd / Japan License Bank Corporation:
– 101-letter.pdf – LPI 101 notes, PDF
– 102-letter.pdf – LPI 102 notes, PDF
vi invito poi a fare il test (sia per il 101 che il 102) qui e vedere a che punto siete arrivati.
Se poi volete provare i test senza essere collegati ad internet potete anche scaricarvi un dvd live, per fare il test interattivo con elpix (pagina di distromania che vi permette di andare al sito ufficiale o scaricare direttamente la iso da 1,9 giga da ftp o http).
Come e Dove certificarsi
Chi si affida ad istituti didattici non ci sono problemi perché saranno loro a provvedere in merito (similmente all’ECDL).
I corsi degli istituti didattici hanno un costo variabile a seconda di vari parametri, ma si dovrebbe aggirare mediamente sui 3.000,00 € (prendetelo con beneficio d’inventario).
Si può, ovviamente, essere autodidatta, e si possono quindi sostenere gli esami separatamente dai corsi a pagamento, il costo varia dai 70,00 ai 150,00 €/esame. Gli esami talvolta sono presenti in manifestazioni culturali e soprattutto in occasione dei LinuxDay nelle grandi città (Roma, Firenza, Milano etc.).

Tutto il materiale è ovviamente in inglese (non credo che gli istituti didattici facciano eccezione), ma se ce la faccio io a capirci qualcosa … non sarà un problema per chi mi legge .. o no? 😛

sono un newbie di linux, che vorrebbe presto diventare ex sistemista di windows verso linux… Le mie conoscenze però su quest’ultimo sistema operativo sono abbastanza limitate… Detto fuori dai denti.. vale la pena tentare di frequentare questo corso, magari solo la base, per imparare qualcosa, o ritieni comunque che ci vuole almeno una certa padronanza per capire qualcosa?

io sono un appassionato e non un professionista dell’IT. Secondo il mio modesto parere guardati e, se vuoi, studiati il materiale che ti ho proposto in maniera gratuita (basta la conoscenza di un minimo di inglese), male che ti vada hai delle conoscenze in piu’ e non ti viene la tremarella quando vedi un terminale ;).
Se poi sperimentando vedi che riesci bene ad usare questo s.o., che ricordo è liberamente scaricabile ed usufruibile, puoi provare a fare direttamente l’esame (ovviamente prima studiati bene bene il materiale e spippola il piu’ possibile con linux) spendendo solo 70-150 euri 😀 e mettere alla prova la tua conoscenza.

piena di gente appassionata di linux che ti puo’ indirizzare per reperire materiale e conoscenze ed eventualmente avere informazioni sui corsi (che talvolta sono gratuiti).
Insomma in poche parole, prima di spendere informati da chi e’ appassionato di linux, usa linux e cerca le guide sull’argomento che ti interessa, vedrai che trovi un sacco di materiale utile.

Quello che mi fa incazzare è che la certificazione LPI non è riconosciuta dallo stato italiano e la patente europea secondo il governo sia una valida certificazione. Perché chi usa windows e ms office è più bravo di chi configura server aziendali con linux e unix?

e’ normale .. con chi ha fatto la convenzione il nostro ministro mussi per la ricerca in italia? con una universita’ per lo sviluppo di progetti open source da distribuire per il bene di tutto il paese? NO, con microsloft, premettendo che i risultati saranno (forse in parte) sotto brevetto (a favore di ziobill) .. la colpa mica e’ di ziobill !!! … 😛
Ho già l’ECDL (livello base) e ho iniziato da poco a studiare per conseguire l’LPIC. Dato che gli e-book e i pdf non mi sono mai sembrati troppo comodi, ho comprato qui un manuale davvero completo, del quale il 70% è reperibile anche con BigG. Quasi 1000 pagine che coprono tutti gli argomenti del syllabus (livelli junior e advanced, quindi esami 101, 102, 201 e 202), oltre a riassunti, esercizi e simulazioni di esame.
Ora spero di riuscire a dare presto gli esami e certificarmi LPIC-1 e LPIC-2. Ho anche visto che superando l’esame 199 è possibile ottenere l’Ubuntu Certified Professional, quindi proverò sicuramente anche quello =D

io cercavo quel testo in italiano .. ma tante’ in italia … se parli di linux ti guardano male .. mentre se parlo ad esempio con un inglese di qualsiasi cosa (giusto 3 giorni fa), anche sull’abbigliamento … mi si dice:-

Il materiale didattico lo ho trovato in italiano, scritto da piccardi, e lo ho trovato molto chiaro e ben fatto.

Tra l’altro mi dicono che oltre ad essere un buon libro di testo è quello scritto e usato dal Linux Certification Institute (http://www.lici.it), che è dedicata alla formazione Linux e pare siano bravi.

Ciao, io proprio ieri ho cominciato ad informarmi su queste certificazioni (spero non siate spariti tutti, dato che l’ultimo commento è di 8 mesi fa!). Sono un autodidatta ed avere una certificazione mi farebbe comodo per trovare qualche lavoretto qua e là . Inoltre penso che sarebbe un’ottima occasione di rendere organiche e più approfondite le competenze che ho già .
Mi interessava il primo livello (LPIC-1), anche perché non credo di potermi spingere oltre. Come hai trovato gli esami tu? Li hai fatti online o su carta?
Ho cominciato a procurarmi un po’ di materiale, tra cui un libro di Nemeth, Snyder e Hein, quello che hai consigliato tu di Piccardi e delle dispense di un certo Ian Shields distribuite gratuitamente sul sito di IBM developerWorks.

questo articolo e’ vecchiotto forte … ed e’ stato scritto per segnarmi questa cosa della certificazione. Sono indicazioni, io ti consiglio di controllare bene nei forum che trovi sparsi su internet sull’argomento.
Come ti ho gia’ detto ed hai sicuramente letto per certificarsi basta informarsi nel LUG piu’ vicino 😀
io ti consiglio di non spendere tanti soldi per comprare libri vari, ritengo (mia opinione personale) che basta studiarsi bene quello che e’ stato proposto in maniera gratuita.

ho un quesito da porvi, io ho l’esame lpic1-101 l’1 dicembre (il martedì che viene),
sto studiando e ho trovato questo link solo oggi,in più sto scaricando la iso del live dvd per vedere a che punto sono, ma da eterno pessimista la mia domanda è questa…
cosa succede se non dovessi passare l’esame?
per ridarlo dovrei ripagare?

E’ da un pò che mi sto mettendo sotto a studiare il libro di piccardi, che trovo davvero ben fatto.
Invece come avete trovato, se qualcuno ha avuto modo di studiare, “Linux Certification in a Nutshell 2nd Ed” ?? Conviene comprarlo o scaricarlo ed affiancare al libro di piccardi??
